The finals of the regional English contest for students-Star Awards 2017 took place on the afternoon of 4th, November,2017 at the University of Economics- the University of Da Nang. This competition was organized by the Youth Union of Da Nang University in collaboration with the Youth Union of National Universities, the regional university, under the sponsorship of Wilmar CLV Group.
Having showed profound understanding in various field with a convincing presentation in English, Nguyen Le Quyen-contestant from University of foreign language studies- The university of Da Nang was so outstanding that overcome many compettitors to win the first prize with a reward of 5 million and gifts from sponsors.

Ten outstanding contestants out of 100 ones of highest scores in the online round will participate in English speaking test and communication skills test in the final round. Each contestant will give a presentation on the general theme “What is the importance of foreign language to Vietnam economic development and intergration?” and give their answer for the situation question from Board of Judge (knowing the contest of others is not allowed).
“Winning the first prize is a great encouragement for me to continually study harder. Star Awards 2017 – English Competition in students is absolutely beneficial platform enabling me – us to enhance language skills, social skills and other knowledge related to history, culture, economy and society of Vietnam as well as general knowledge about ASESAN community”, Nguyen Le Quyen joyfully said.
At Danang cluster, it is said that the contest grab attention of 3.000 students from local universities and Tay Nguyen University. The first round is the online round, which is carried out at six clusters ( Danang university, Can Tho Univeristy, Ho Chi Minh National University, Hanoi National University and Thai Nguyen University) from 18th September 2017 to 01st October 2017. In this round, 100 participants of highest scores continually will step into the offline round – Camping day (at the same day) with other competitions such as “Amazing Race”, “Who is more intelligent”, “ Who is more excellent” in order to compete with others in speaking test. In the top eleven, Nguyen Le Quyen and Duong Ky Anh will be Danang cluster’s representatives to enter the national final – Star Union, which is expectedly organized in Can Tho on 11th November 2017.
